DESCRIPTION: Functions as a member of the Long Term Care health team to provide personal care to patients or residents under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse Charge Nurse. The CNA strives to assist patients and residents to maintain and/or regain their optimal state of health and self-care, and to provide dignity and comfort REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate. Must have successfully completed a Certified Nurse Aide Class, be certified by the State of Alaska, and maintain this certification on a biannual basis. Be current with CEU credits as required by the State of Alaska. Maintain a BLS certification. Demonstrates ability to lift up to 50 pounds without self-injury, as well as ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; and perform duties that include bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting while positioning or other patient care routines. |
