DESCRIPTION: Speech and Language Pathologists identify and treat communication problems related to language and speech. Speech language pathologists seek to improve communication skills through vocal exercises and cognitive therapies.  Patients undergoing treatment with a speech therapist may have an articulation, language, fluency, resonance or mechanical disorder which prevents them from either being understood or understanding others or swallowing and managing oral intake.  The speech therapist works with hospital outpatients, inpatients, Home Health, and residents of the hospital Long Term Care unit, according to the professional standards of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).

 REQUIREMENTS: The Staff Speech and Language Pathologist position requires a degree from an accredited university recognized by the American Speech and hearing Association. One to two years of experience is preferred.  Current National certification and C.P.R. certification are mandatory.
