Surgical Technician

DESCRIPTION:  Primary duties include scrubbing on surgical cases, setting up Operating Room (OR), stripping and cleaning of OR and other assigned housekeeping duties pertinent to the OR. Employee may restock department, clean and decontaminate, wrap and sterilize equipment and instruments. May also run errands for circulating nurse, provide secretarial duties as needed. Job involves prolonged standing and walking and exposure to all patient elements.

REQUIREMENTS:  Certification as an Operating Room Technician preferred, with a minimum of 3 years of recent previous experience. Full range of skills is essential, including knowledge of sterile technique. Current BLS certification. Ability to move 50 pounds or 25% or own body weight without injury to self or others. Able to cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives. Follow hospital policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety procedures and infection control. Maintain ability to remain calm in a stressful environment. Ability to take call and be available for various shifts as needed.
