Registered Respiratory Therapist

DESCRIPTION:    The Respiratory Therapist assumes professional responsibility for providing respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Coordinator and according to Physicians' prescription.  Provides implementation and coordination of respiratory therapy services to inpatients, Long Term Care Residents, outpatients and out-reach programs affiliated with South Peninsula Hospital.  Develops and maintains department policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement program and assists with the departmental budget.

REQUIREMENTS:   The Respiratory Therapist is required to be a graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy, with certification from the National Board of Respiratory Therapy Care.  Current CPR and ACLS certification.  A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a hospital setting, including geriatrics. Must be available to cover vacations and sick leave.
